It also shows some the capabilities of large scale cyber warfare in a company versus company situation. Instead of having nation states warring you have corporate institutions sparring with each other.

This happens about once a year with cogent and it is starting to get old. They are not a small company, and they need to be treated like a company who gets real amounts of traffic. that said - we're going to have to back up with AT&T.

"My advice right now: if you have Cogent, RUN, don’t walk to your nearest teir 1 carrier and buy some backup bandwidth!" That is a recipie for future fail. The so-called "tier 1"s are useless precisely because they are all fragile and susceptable to happiness within their cartel. Sprint will blame cogent, cogent will blame sprint, half-truths will be the rule of the day and in the end one or the other will relent. If experience is any guide, cogent will pick up new business out of this...

you know what's so damn funny - that I had to call them on the 19th with this solution (to renumber) and they wanted me to prove that i needed a Class C AGAIN! I have to renumber for the 2% of my clients that were affected. So now the other 98% have to deal with it.

Cogent REFUSES to take responsibility and prevent sh*t like that from happening 'well, we can't control it, or track it' BULLSH*T! So they're taking back the blocks that I have and will reissue it to some poor soul that will have to deal with this all over again because NetSol will never, EVER unblock those numbers (per my convo with them on Friday).
